Client Development Director - Life Sciences

We are excited to partner with a premier AmLaw 20 global law firm, on its search for a Director of Client Development for Life Sciences (LS). We are seeking a senior Client Development professional with exceptionally strong leadership skills, the ability to manage a high-performing team, and deep relationships within the life sciences sector. This individual will be a true partner to firm leadership - working alongside practice group leaders and attorneys as an equal voice in go-to-market strategy. Reporting to the Managing Director of Client Development for Life Sciences and Healthcare, this role will also collaborate with LS partners, leaders, and CD leaders across the firm to shape and execute LS business development strategy in alignment with the broader firm strategy.



Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to,



Strategic Leadership & Go-to-Market Execution

  • Develop and oversee high-impact, scalable initiatives to drive measurable client relationships, profitable growth and brand leadership from conception through execution
  • Oversee the development of high-quality, strategic marketing materials, including pitches and proposals and ranking submissions
  • Drive strategic marketing campaigns and brand presence; monitor and identify key industry trends

Talent & Operations

  • Proactively identify and implement best-in-class, scalable frameworks, approaches, processes, and systems to support the firm's life sciences growth objectives.
  • Direct the implementation of operational changes that streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance quality and productivity; lead team's efforts to modernize policies, processes, and systems
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of business development professionals



Lateral Integration & Internal Collaboration

  • Support the integration of lateral partners, ensuring they can leverage Goodwin's platform to maintain and grow their client relationships.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Practice Management, Knowledge Management, and other internal teams to enhance data-driven decision-making in business development efforts.



We are seeking experienced client/business development professionals, with a background in life sciences. This position can be located in any east coast (Boston, NY or DC) or west coast (San Fran and Silicon Valley) office of the firm. The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package and a hybrid working model with 3 days/week in the office.
